First blooming for Masdevallia decumana!

Great petals! Decumana is the parent of many amazing hybrids, I just love it!

Hi Silvan, not sure; it's the only Masdevallia I've ever had, so I don't have much of a frame of reference for this genus.

I did pot in a cool pot from The Orchid Gallery. All my orchids are grown as windowsill plants (east-facing); so I guess nothing special?

I love this tiny plant. Does it requires special care to flower ?

Nice. Where did you find it? I haven't been able see any for sale but probably good thing since I presently have no living masdevallias :<

I got it from Ecuagenera when they came for the Fascination of Orchids International Orchid show in 2013.

That is 100% gorgeous. I really love this species. I don't grow masdevallias anymore. I've tried in the past but seeing this pretty picture makes me want to try again.

Hi Maria,

I'm a windowsill grower in southern California, so ambient room temps don't really get below mid 60s and highest is 90 maybe 1-2 days in the summer, most of the time the temp runs in the 70s. For some reason the humidity in the house is always high though, 80-90% right now.

Nicely grown! Please, could you share the min and max temperatures?
