Don't recall where I bought this, but label says "Liisa" AM/AOS x "Rouget" FCC/AOS. It is still opening, but the sun was shinning today, so I just had to take a pic. I think it has good color and shape and it currently has a spread of 9.5 cm tall x 8 cm wide. I have three different micranthum clones and it looks like they will all be blooming this year.

It may be from Sam, but there is no OI number on this tag. I do have one from him, but it is clear by the tag number. I think I may have purchased this at a show here in the mid-west, but that doesn't really help much to ID the source.

That's a real beauty! Congrats!

I believe that Paph. micranthum "Liisa" AM/AOS and "Rouget" FCC/AOS were in the collection of the late Dr. Clements. So, I'm thinking that your plant probably originally came from Tom, at Fox Valley Orchids. Tom acquired Dr. Clements' collection after he passed away.

Mike,

Looks like one of our seedlings from a couple of years back. 'Liisa' AM/AOS and 'Rouget' FCC/AOS are two micranthum clones we bought from the Birchwood Orchids collection when Dr. Clements passed away. Nice color!

I'm not a fan of micranthum with sagging pouch, but that one has a well-balanced flower and great color!!!

Can you run how the growing conditions are during the winter for this?
Or is this one sitting in the same conditions as everyone else in your lovely custom-made greenhouse? :)

Thank you for sharing, Mike!

Thanks all for the kind words. John and Tom, thanks for the background info. I thought there was a good chance that it might have been purchased from Tom as a seedling either in Chicago or Cincinnati. Regarding the growing conditions, this particular plant gets bright light (>3K foot candles for most of the day and down to 60 degrees at night. However, all of my micranthums are doing well and they are all growing under different conditions. One is in a basket with large bark chunks. One is growing in straight orchiata and this one is in small seedling bark with moss. They seem to be adaptable and easy to grow and flower.
