Bc Little Birds

First cattleya alliance bloom for me, ever!
It was more light yellow when it opened, and I already have a Bv. Yellow Bird so I was a bit bummed (Little Birds can supposedly range from yellow to almost red so I was hoping for darker colors just to change things up). However, it's aged into a bit more of an intense gold/almost orange on its second day open, and I am quite happy with it and its cute little lip spots! It's very small, in a 2 inch pot. Ooh it is very pretty! Reminds me of BC Rustic Spots and BC Frances Fox! I would happily own any of those.

Congratulations on your first cattleya alliance bloom! It sounds beautiful, and I can imagine your excitement watching its colors deepen from light yellow to that warm gold-orange shade. Those subtle changes can be such a pleasant surprise, and the lip spots sound so unique and charming. The transformation you’re describing is part of what makes growing orchids so rewarding every bloom brings something a little different!
Your experience actually reminds me of my journey to Kauai, Hawaii, where I was surrounded by vibrant plants and colorful birds in their natural habitat (https://hawaiiislandkauai.com/). The island was filled with beautiful, unexpected colors especially in the local flora and bird species, which made every hike feel like discovering a new, hidden world. I can see how watching a bloom open and shift colors over days at home might bring back some of that feeling! Enjoy your Little Bird; it sounds like a true gem.

I like the contrast between the pale yellow "lip" (is it a lip on Cattleya's?-I don't know my anatomy) and gold petals. And the spots really add a pop. Adorable.

This is an older thread, but I never updated it with both blooms open, so here they are! The whole flowers became more saturated, including the lips.
These blooms are long gone, but the plant has 3 new sheaths emerging!

Blooming again! I had two spikes this time but one blasted. Between recent thrips and our move and ensuing struggles with humdity (I can barely get it to 30% right now, I've resorted to air drying blankets under and around my plants until I can set up something better in the midst of life chaos), I'll take it. I'm excited to see it deepen to that deep buttery color.

Thank you! It's been a little warm for my liking some days and I'm still working on humidity, but I am seeing lots of growth out of pretty much everything anyway, so that's a good sign!

Ah, sorry for the confusion- I have a Bc Yellow Bird (decently close relative) blooming above it. And this is an add-on to a previous post of it blooming this summer, it's the same plant!
I like the contrasting lip and the little spots, too! It's a fun little plant. I'll definitely update when all the blooms open!
