Oh man, it is the middle of the silly season isn't it!?!?!?
I am a loooooooooonnnnnnnnngggggg time grower of orchids. Now in Michigan, 5 months outside and 7 months under lights. I grow mostly Cattleya species, some hybrids, Paphiopedilums and Phragmipediums. Over the course of 5 decades, I started in 1973 roughly, I have tried almost every kind of orchid that there is. The best advice I could give you is to determine what kind of growing conditions you can easily supply and then grow orchids to match those conditions.
But if you hang around long enough, great people, nice people, excellent growers hang out here. Advice will surely be given.
