Welcome from Pennsylvania USA!

Welcome from Wa state. Do you grow inside or out? Do you know of any good orchid vendors in the north of Italy? I have a friend in Brescia who is interested in starting to grow them.

NOOOOO WAYYY! I live in Brescia too. That would be nice get in touch with your friend so I can give all the info he/she needs. And yes, there are vendors in northern Italy. One is Orchideria Morosolo, but also close to Brescia there is one ( not that big though..) Mainly I order from Poland, Germany and Romania as it is much less expensive and also because I love to grow my orchids from seedlings. I love your land!!! I had the honour to visited it long time ago. And I simply loved the people.

Welcome from the wet, west coast of Canada. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of what you'll have blooming in Italy.
No way.... I absolutely have to know from which city of Canada you are writing from. I lived in your amazing country for 4 years long time ago and I simply loved it. I left my soul over there. I lived in Calgary...The kindness of Canadians will be always in my heart!!
Here are some of my orchids.

Lots of fragrant flowers in that collection from what I can tell! Fragrant orchids are my favorite. Slippers aside, fragrant flowers are almost a requirement for an orchid to stay in my collection long term. Granted, there are some fragrant slippers as well, but I give that group a little more leeway.

Is that Holcoglossum hybrid fragrant? I've got a V. coerulescens in my collection, but it has yet to bloom. I've heard they smell like grape candy.

Yes! That's exactly what I smell, grape candy. He is spiking now. That was a picture of last year. White slippers I'm not that lucky. I have to learn a lot! But I love them!

Helloooo, where to start? First, your pictures are beautiful. I am a new grower and what an inspiration to see such a marvelous collection. Would you know the name of the white/pale pink phalaenopsis? I love the color and the fullness of the inflorescence.

Second, I am very intrigued with growing orchids from seedlings. I have bought several flasks this year and almost killed off my first few. However, with advice from this forum, I managed to save a few and my next few flasks have fared much better. What species are you growing from seedlings? Do you buy flasks or compots? How long have you been growing seedlings?

Second, the feeling is mutual regarding friendly people. Italians are some of the most welcoming and kind people I have met. And Brescia is just spectacular. I've hiked Mt Guglielmo and biked Psso Maniva. I will pass on the nursery information and the offer of advice to my friend. All she really wants is a non-blooming phalaenopsis. I think she wants to be surprised by the bloom and also maybe feel responsible for getting it to bloom. A feeling I think we can all relate to. :)Looking forward to hearing more about your growing.
