Hi everyone,

Every two years an Orchid Exhibition takes place in Thun in Switzerland. This year was a very good one for Paphi-lovers because there were so many slippers exhibited. But finally I was a little frustrated because of the plants in the sellers area.
Tons of Phal hybrids and very few Paph species.
I only got Paph. supardii and Paph. platyphyllum 'Ruth Kennedy' x self (the motherplant received an award of Merit from the AOS in 1981 and was the devision Mr. Kennedy used to describe Paph. stonei var. latifolium)

That looks like a nice show, from your pictures I'm inclined to say that the show section is better as the show of Bad Salzuflen a few weeks ago.

Is it just me or do others think that masses of foliage plants can detract from the orchids. I kinda like the idea of a white cloth over the table with nothing else but the orchids all in a row so you can stand in front of them and take a good look. sort of how bonsai are displayed.

That's how many Orchid shows in asia look like. But you must have outstanding plants because the focus does not lay in the entirety.

Wow, that must have been some show to visit in person! I appreciate you sharing your great pictures with us.

I agree that some of the displays might be a touch on the 'full' side, but they all looked great to me. I would love to attend a big show where people go all out on their displays in the near future.

ps - How did Eric's car get to Switzerland??? :D;):D
