Oh boy, we saw the stories on the news tonight about the snow that has hit you guys in New York. Yikes. Didn't realize you could get it that bad. :poke: Kind of like living in some parts of Canada.

While its supposed to be the 6th worst storm on record in NYC, its not the storm...its the clean-up. This is the worst cleanup I have ever seen...and I've been through worse storms here. At first they were denying it, but the latest news is that the mayor is admitting that they did a lousy job...apparently its officially the slowest cleanup in memory. My area is still unpassable on all but the major roads. We only had our 1st snowplow 2 hours ago. The storm was Sunday! And the plow did nothing...its as if it was never here. I think the held the blade up.

Monday I couldn't get out of our driveway w/ my Subaru!! Tuesday got out to Brooklyn but teh street our office building is on had not been plowed yet, about 14" snow so I parked a block away. I dont really think this is any wors than any storms I remember it just came fast and at a bad time. If it had come X-mas eve it would have been clean for work Monday. Eric, if you need a relief food/drink delivery let me know. :)

I haven't had one of those in a couple of years. Usually, when we do, there's only 30-35 cm of snow with high winds followed by a few hours or rain or freezing rain. Then the temperature goes down quickly to minus 25-30C, which means I have to get out with the snowblower before it all turns to ice.

Thanks Eric! We're OK now...the plows come through regularly and most of the streets and corners are passable...with effort. But I still haven't gotten any mail since Friday.

Glad to hear that! Give it another day & you'll probably get the 40-50 degree weather we're expecting today & tomorrow. Only in the midwest!

It's Obama's fault. Snow was removed promptly when Bush was president.

I know this was meant in jest, but man, sometimes it's true; politicians can make a difference to snow removal. We got a new mayor this fall and there's been a huge improvement in snow removal this year. :rollhappy:
