Is this the exact opposite of what we'd expect or give it? Sounds like this one is thriving on near neglect?! ........ are we pampering too much?

Rose, I guess some plants are meant to be neglected...

Didn't really mean it as a criticism! Consider some of the regions these plants come from, what we consider normal or proper care can be pampering/spoiling them. So although the word neglect is used, it's not neglect - it's just what the plant needs/wants! Does that make sense?

No, none of my plants are neglected. And Rose, I got the drift of your comment. I cannot take care of my Paphs the way the books, websites reccomend. My GH is set up for my Phals - if other species do well and bloom - bonus!

I know what you mean, Rose... I guess the correct term would be 'benign neglect'... Here in the tropics, certain non-slippers like Coelogyne rochussennii do very well just left to their own devices and just watered once a day...
