If you look at enough clones of both lowii and spicerianum you'll see a few that have some speckling in the lower part of the dorsal or along the center-line. I think this may be a happy reinforcement of a weakly expressed trait from both parents, or a loss of genetic suppression of ancestral spotting because of the mixed genetics. Definitely a plus here.

Thank-you, a good explanation. I thought lowii never had spots on the dorsal. Ive not noticed them on spicerianum, either; hence my point.
