I have been growing Paph. exul in a mixture ofCurrently blooming.

The only way I can grow this species with suscess is in a clay pot with clay balls plus a little ProMix added.

fine bark and perlite for 10 years and have never
had any problems with rot. The plant grows well
and gradually multiplies itself. I suspect your
problem has nothing to do with compost but is
probably due to your watering schedule and low
night temperature. Paph. exul in Thailand usual-
ly grows close to sea level and has a night tem-
perature of 70 F. It will take lower temperatures
if not kept too wet. I let almost all of my paphs
dry out a bit between waterings and keep a min-
imum temperature of 63 F. Plants growing new
roots and recently repotted I watch carefully and
keep a little more moist.
