Paph Gloria Naugle ‘In Charm Red’ mericlone from PaphParadise.

First bloom and I’ve been busy with work and didn’t photograph it until the pouch was beginning to wilt (apologies to Dave), but i was surprised by the vibrancy of the color and wanted to share.

Beautiful flower. It is vibrant. Strong new growth, too.

I’m ashamed to say that I don’t recall exactly how old. Less than a month. Not as long lasting as our wolterianum🙂.
I expect the flower of this hybrid will last 4 weeks or so. Are you sure it is "mericlone"? If so, it will be my first time to see a flower photo of a mericloned Paph. Maybe a division? just curious.

Dave from PaphParadiise evidently expected people’s reaction to hearing that it’s a mericlone🙂. Below is the description that was posted:

Paphiopedilum Gloria Naugle ‘In-Charm Red’ mericlone

“Yes, a Paphiopedilum mericlone! This is an exceptional quality Gloria Naugle so it was mericloned in limited numbers. No need to bloom out dozens of seedlings or buy an expensive division to find that great Gloria Naugle.”

Wow! That is really amazing! For sure it is the very first one for me. Thank you for the quote.

It was certainly new to me, but a mericloned Gloria Naugle seemed like a good investment. In the short time I’ve been collecting orchids I think I’m at between 500-600 which I grow under lights in my office. All to say that at this point I’ve tried to reign myself in a bit and have started purchasing divisions, selects or something in bloom since I don’t have the space to grow out a lot of seedlings. (Saying that while I’m looking at 12 flasks)🤣
