Got this from Hillsview last spring. I’m hoping it stays fairly flat but we’ll see. It’s over 8cm ns so decent size. This cross has been super vigorous - this plant has 3 new leads from a single growth

Very nice. I have several of these but have only bloomed one so far. Mine flask was from Hillsview also.

I expected it to be a godefroyae or leucochilum hybrid based on this photo.

According to OrchidRoots, this is Paphiopedilum wenshanense × Paphiopedilum Grey Tricks. And that is 25% godefroyae, so I was correct, but I was also really surprised it was only 25% of the parentage. I would have guessed it would be at least 45% or more.

Irrelevant rambling aside, I like this outcome. The flower very much reminds me of some of the best qualities of godefroyae and if the plant is as vigorous as you're saying then this seems like a real winner.

Any chance there's a fragrance on this? I'm guessing not, but based on the parentage, I think there's a possibility, even if it's super faint.

I cheated and got seedlings, like a lot of these complex crosses they do seem pretty variable

Yes it is kind of wild the variation some of these third, fourth gen crosses have. Glad that the color is bold and the size is pretty good. Teresa Hill also likes the cross for its vigor as she says she usually has trouble with brachys in their dreary winters and these have done great for her.
