littii grow like WEEDS. Killed all 3 prim.var.purpurescens purchased in 94, 96, & 98 from 3 different sources (were in their variuos declined-stages, couldn't save them). Don't know if anyone still have it in coultivation today? Would love to have another change at it (NOT to kill, but uncover their secrets). The new Xs of moquettianum X littii sold as Pinochio & Avalon Mist (Pinochio X littii from OZ) are producing 15 > 19 blooms on the first bloom seedling and still going on leggy (3in in between bloom), 3ft or so long spike! many second grows are spiking.
Var. purpurescens (or forma purpurescens earlier) was described as early as 1976 by Woods, and the taxonomic description includes leaves that have purple markings on the underside. This description predates Rand's naming of the "lilliti" clone by several years I believe. Anyway I (and many others) have plants that match Wood's description that we call var purpurescens that grow and bloom on par with what you get for your "lilliti". See Jean Lux's recent thread on the species.
