I don't know if you remember when I was talking about a different form of lowii that we have:

http://www.slippertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9773

This form of lowii has more compact plants with a shorter inflorescence, and the petals of the flowers tend to stand out more horizontal. I selfed the original plant that we had, and the first seedling bloomed today; it looks a lot like it's parent. I think this is a great lowii to have, for people who are concerned about space, as it does not take up as much room as a regular lowii.

Robert,

Thanks for posting these photos! I remember the original thread and purchased one afterwards. It's doing quite nicely for me. I didn't think my plant was close to blooming size (it's substantially smaller than my blooming lowii), but now I think it's close. Maybe mine will bloom next year. :)

What are the flower dimensions and pot size of the plant in your photos?

Best Regards,
Nik

The flower is close to 15 cm across, and it is in a 4 inch square pot.

that's indeed a nice form of "Goofy Paph" (<- this species always makes me think of Goofy) :)

This is pretty cool. It's definitely worth propagating and preserving. I'm glad that you selfed the original to produce more like it. Variety is the spice of life!

very nice Robert!

I have this selfing and there's just a problem, it grows very slowly.

I've seen several beautiful photos of lowii's on this forum, including this one. But whenever I see any in person, they just don't strike me as one I need to have. But maybe I've just not seen the right one.

Someone here, has a really distinctly round pouched and deep colored one. Robert, is this for sale on the website? This is like the 3rd time something nice has been posted here the day after my order ships!
