The staminode does strongly suggest that the parent really was jackii, and a lovely one at that.

WOW!!! I have a small seedling of this and in 2 years it doesn't seem to be any bigger. I am a long way from this kind of flowering.

Hi Dot,
Those clonal names are not ours, but it may have originated in a group of plants we brought in from Hawaii as Ma Belle some years ago. Not 100% sure about the Hawaiian origin, but I am sure we've never used malipoense v jackii in hybridizing. Regardless, it really is a nice flower, and I wouldn't mind having a division if it ever gets big enough to divide.

Tom, I'll put your name on a tag in the plant, but it'll be awhile before it's big enough to divide. It's a good bloomer, though. It's bloomed twice since I purchased it from you! Thanks!!!
