Won't win any flower quality awards but maybe on a future blooming. Note: forth pic has too much purple in it.

I know what you mean Justin. I've had a few since OZ remade the cross and this is the first I've bloomed! (I don't think this is one of theirs)

How many growths? Is this the first blooming?
This plant bloomed once before for the previous owner. That growth is completely gone. About two years ago a northeast orchid society sold off a deceased member's collection. I bought 3 plants, this was one of them.
The original growth throw off 2 starts, the blooming one and a smaller one. This blooming growth has already started two more.
Very nice. It is hard to beat a good PEOY. I'm finding mine very slow as well. What are the parents of this Rick?
Which brings me to the to your question David. Unfortunately, I do not know. The previous owner only had "Prince Edward of York" on his tag.
Wow, Rick -- not only are you an excellent slipper-grower, you have become an excellent photographer!
I'm sure it has a lot to do with the new Canon I recently bought and still have a lot to learn. That's why I have too much purple/pink in the one pic...wrong setting.

I love the amount of red in this flower! Hope my seedlings grow up to look this nice. They are now about 6 months out of flask. Only 10 years until blooming! That is great that yours is starting so much new growth. I'd be happy with that one.

Just the fact that a deceased member's plants have found new homes and are being well cared for, makes the plant all that more special! It has history!
Well done Rick, I am touched by the work of you and your gnomes. (I hope that one day my plants may be accorded a similar honor)

I'd be very happy with it Rick. It still seems to have a good form and colours. Great to have in any collection.

What a grand picture they make with all the blooms open. The solid pouch colour is even more obvious, and the sandy dorsal much improved in the hybrid. Well done, a plant to be proud of IMO!

I agree. That has good potential. On a big plant that is going to turn heads. What's the petal length Rick?
