Very nice - and you have more buds coming along !

Charlie

Love it and it has two blooms flowering at the same time - that's great. Usually the previous flower has wilted before the next one blossoms out.

My prim is behaving the same way, holding two but it's been blooming for months now. I'm thinking it must be the time of the year (fall/winter) is why prims are holding flowers longer. Anyone else have a primulinum holding multiples?

Thanks for the comments!:) Rick, I thought it was unusual that the older blossom has hung on as long as it has, too. Your thinking the cooler weather is allowing the flowers to last longer?

I'm not sure (as in most cases with my plants!) Ross but my prim has been flowering sense spring and it never held two flowers any longer then a day maybe two before the first fell. Today it has two open and has been for over a week. As a fact, I photograph it last weekend to post but decided not to since I had in the spring. I'm not sure if I uploaded it to Imageshack but if I did I could post it so you could see.

I think it's temp-related. Warmer temps speed up the plant and the flowers fade faster, so spring/summer flowers on cochlos are commonly solitary; fall/winter in groups potentially.

Maybe our southern climate, Rick? We have a prim that's been in bloom since well before our move and still is and the spike is at that gangly stage. It also has only had one flower ever open with very little to no overlap with the next. Spike initiated in Chicago early to mid summer (hot). Will keep an eye on it as out temps cool off eventually. Ross is in Minnesota, so he's been cooler now for a couple months. I know our cochlos held flowers longer and overlapping pretty commonly in Chicago's cooler months.

Pretty common for my cochlos to have 2 blooms open at once on the same spike...I'm in Ohio.

I have a primulinum from Ernie that has two spikes going full bore right now, and sometimes they have two on the same spike as well...can't beat that!

I don't have any doubts about temp and holding flowers. Here in S. Fla, when my ochlos bloom in the summer, they bolt and tend to drop flowers very quickly. When I bring them into the house or the cool room, they keep their flower more slowly and keep flowers. However, I am not convinced that some clones don't tend to influence this trait also. I look for Cochlos & hybrids that keep their flowers. This may just be related to plant vigor, but it still is important IMO.
