Last weekend was the first South Carolina Orchid Society show since COVID hit and despite being in a new location and a number of first timers on the show team, myself included, it was a huge success. Our members provided a wonderful variety of plants to display and our sister socities and vendors contributed beautiful displays of their own.

Shannon and I put together the SCOS exhibit, our first show exhibit ever, and received an 83 point AOS Show Trophy for it. Our exhibitors received several AOS awards, our vendors were almost cleaned out, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Back home in the greenhouse I still have a few Paphs blooming, Phrags are getting into gear, and a non-Paph or two joining in.

That is a KILLER stonei! Wow. Excellent color.

I thought so too, but it's my first stonei so I don't have much basis for comparison lol. It won a ribbon for best multifloral species in our show exhibit but didn't get pulled for judging, I'm guessing they would want to see 4-5 flowers to consider it.

Incredible stonei, congrats! I also have that cross, so now I’m very excited to see it bloom. Was hoping for a spike this year since its sent up multiple leads, but nothing yet!

Wössner Black Wings, select clone from Sam out of roths 'Red Sea' x anitum 'Ace'. Sam recorded a dw of 6.2 and pw 1.6 on the tag, this blooming is 5.6 and 1.5 so I'm going to grow it out a while before submitting it. I would hate to have such a nice plant devalued with an HCC.

Johanna's Angel, I've only found two pics of the grex online and both were disasters. This one is better but that's not saying much.

Julius, a pretty average example of the grex IMO.

Phrag. walisii/warscewiczianum is loaded with spikes but they are staggering their development instead of putting on a big show.

A few non-slippers are blooming too, here are Encyclia tampensis alba and Zygo Cynosure 'Blue Birds'

As the second Hilo Black Eagle developed I started getting suspicious of the buds and sure enough it's another mislabel and also another stonei hybrid. I'm leaning toward Hung Sheng Cape from what I can see of it. We'll see when it is fully open.
