This was awarded at the Paph Forum last weekend.
Paph. Sunlight Serenade ‘Elation’ HCC/AOS (Alex Szabo ‘Pure Gold’ x Hsinying Gold ‘Monarch’)
Complete surprise because this bloom was not as flat as they usually are. From Hadley Cash, 5 years ago at my first Paph Forum. Purchased as a single growth, bare root seedling. Hadley told me it was going to be good! He said Harold Koopowitz told him to make the cross. Sure wish he was still here to see it now. First bloom was perfect. I gave him the pollen and he made a cross with it, because he said it was a solid AM. Next time…

Thank you! The AOS photo is terrible of the close up of the flower. Not the largest or best flower and doesn’t show the texture which IMO is what sets this apart. This is with my iPhone in my basement!

The judges described the “substance hard, texture glossy”. I would add waxy. It almost looks like a wax flower, rather than a real one.

In AOS descriptions, glossy typically means waxy. Interchangeable.
