Bought at Burnham Nurseries, UK in 2012(!) as a seedling this plant has followed me around numerous abodes of the UK growing at a glacial pace. It now has four mature growths, finally flowering from one.

I imagine the small, compact nature is more due to environment than genotype? Only three buds developing.

I would be grateful if the more knowledgeable here could vouch for its correct labelling as I think its quite a rarity in the UK now.

Nice well-grown clump of supardii, it looks the real deal. Keep up the good culture.

It looks correct to me. All mine are relatively compact growing.

It is such a neat species.

Lovely flower and she looks to me like a P. supardii should look like. đź‘Ť
As to the compact growth... that's really nice and I would appreciate this feature ... unfortunately mine (if it is one, I'm still waiting for the first flowers) grows so far the complete opposite. Leafspan is 85 cm and this seems to be normal for supardii at least in my eyes.

I struggled to find many good examples online of this species so I was under the impression it was going to grow out like a kolopakingii or roth.

85cm is a monster leaf..

I got a supardii from OI and it kept getting larger and larger. From tip to tip I would guess the leaf span was close to 4ft, and width of the largest leaf was about 3.5". It was bigger than my Bel Royal. It was close to flowering for me to confirm if it truly is a species and not some hybrid when it got erwinia.

So this weekend I whacked it all back to save the plant and I guess I'll have to wait another 5 years to find out I got swindled for buying a stupardii.

Don't give up. My Orchid Inn supardii is just opening and it looks real.
