It is my understanding that Paph wilhelminae can bloom on very small growths. Am I correct in my assumption and if so at what leaf span and even how many growths? Anyone here have experience blooming these guys? I ask because I just got home from helping Oceanside Orchids sell at the Amherst Orchid show and one followed me home. That’s a relatively small show but turned out to be an enjoyable few days.

I purchased 2 of these from SVO last year and I just measured the leaf spans. The larger one has a 9 inch leaf span (from tip to tip of the 2 largest leaves), the smaller one has a 7 inch leaf span. The larger plant bloomed last year, the smaller one did not.

The plants I received from SVO seem to have shorter but slightly more stout leaves than some of the wilhelminae I've seen in the distant past. So, my guess is that there's some degree of variability in the species.

Also, my plants are first bloom seedlings, so it's entirely possible that future growths will be a bit larger as the plant ages and matures.
