I brought this plant as a seedling at least 9 years ago. It kept growing and growing and growing and not blooming. By 2024 it dwarfed every single one of my Paphiopedilum plants. Its nearly four feet across from tip to tip of the leaves. Paphiopedilum kolopakingii x Paphiopedilum rothschildianum. Paphiopedilum Bel Royal.

That is a magnificent Bel Royal. Great shape and the petals look very wide. And the sepals don't furl like a lot of clones. Certainly, worth the wait and the space. Did you knock the top flower off?

The plant is growing outside in my garden, something knocked out the top flower before it opened.

This is one of the best Bel Royals I've seen. If you ever get it big enough to divide (which given the vigor in this cross, isn't too long), let me know!

amazing! do you grow it in the same conditions as a standard rothschildianum?
