Hybrid? You are all hallucinating. Everything about the flower and plant as a whole is within normal range for concolor as far as these pictures can show, including the staminode, except for color distribution. Color or color distribution alone is usually a matter of a couple gene alleles difference, barely meriting consideration as a named forma in most plants. In particular, that pouch and those leaves show no hangianum influence. The simplest explanation is usually correct, that being a visually significant (to humans) color difference that is likely a very minor genetic variant of Paph concolor.

Yes, 3 plants from last year and this is first bloom for this year (2 buds soon open)
Would you consider crossing two of them or selfing one of the stronger plants please?

That is not a typical concolor staminode

Agreed, the staminode is so different from regular concolor, not even close.

After looking at many many pictures of Paph concolor to find some that actually show the whole staminode as clearly as we see it here, I just can't agree with you. The central crease is more prominent than average here, but not outside the range. The color distribution is different, just as it is for the whole flower, but that is trivial. The overall shape is not unusual. What is the difference you are seeing?

I absolutely have to agree with you Kirk. I have looked at many many pictures of concolor today. All have the heart-like form of the upper part of the staminode just like this one. There is no significant difference. Concolor is such a widely spread species and is very variable therefore.

Yes, please self it.

If I remember correctly, Paph. concolor v. longipetalum is now a separate species, Paph. josianae. Maybe that will happen with this lovely flower, also. I'd sure love to have one.
