After many months in bud, the bloom finally opened this week. Unfortunately, I managed to tag it when reaching for another plant and snapped the bloom off after a few days 🙄. The things you learn during your first year growing orchids.🙂 Thankfully it’s holding well as a cut flower.

The photos don’t do the deep colors of the pouch justice.

It is gorgeous. Not necessarily the easiest species so great job getting it to bloom.

Thanks, Justin. I purchased this from Dave/Paph Paradise last year and he noted that it could be challenging for beginners so of course I had to try it. But he also said that this batch were vigorous growers so I’m guessing my luck was due to that. He also mentioned growing it on a seedling heating mat so it hangs out with my brachys:)

Very nice!!! I did it the same with my first time budding tigrinum few years ago....i drunk i lot of beer on that evening....despite the story i would see the plant itself, too.

That would have been very painful!!! I’m guessing quite a book could be written on what not to do based on all of our experiences.

What a beauty. Big fat spoony laterals.
