Mount Toro (stonei x philippinense "Dr. Henry Walbrun" AM/AOS)

I acquired this plant on September 2021.10 months later now it is blooming with these incredible blooms. Its grace, color, shape, display... I fall in love quickly. I can have a good time admiring it.



By the way: Why Mount Toro? I see that it is a location in California. I know this primary hybrid is from 1976, so maybe there was/is an orchid nursery there? And who is /was Dr. Henry Walbrun? I really appreciate info about this

Lovely flowers, Mario. I think the genes of Paph. philippinense are slighly more dominant in your plant. But maybe this is just my ipression.
As to your questions....regarding Mount Toro there are more than one with that name around the world and one Mount Toro is situated in Papua New Guinea .

The registrar & adress according OrchidWiz is R. W. Cryder, Top Place, Salinas. California.
Looking up that adress in google maps shows it is 15 miles away from the top of Mount Toro and very likely even visible from that home adress. I belief it is safe to assume it was named after the California Mt Toro, not the one in Papua New Guinea

I just acquired one of these. Any tips on how to keep it happy? Do anything special to get it to bloom for you? How big is your pot?

I grow it outdoors. I only grow indoors (windowsill ledge) the brachys or medium to small size paphs. I wrote under my parishi post more or less how I grow them:
"That what helps is the climate and water of Xalapa. It is a temperate and humid zone. I grow it outside in the garden, watering almost daily, it receive direct sun from 2 to 4 in the afternoon (yes, it is contradictory, but my outdoor paphs are aligned to a wall that receives afternoon light) and I fertilize every two waterings. It grows in a plastic pot with bark and pumice. From May to October there are frequent rainings and the ambiance is good for any kind of orchid or plant".
Pot size is 3".

wow i was expecting you to say all those beautiful blooms came from a extra large plant in at least a 6” pot. thank you for the cultural info. i grow indoors, under LEDs so will have to switch it up to windowsill so the plant can get some sunshine once it reaches bloom size.
