Mike, I just got it last summer. It was in a good condition when I got it from Denver. It did grow quite well in the brief time; about 30-40% increase in the length of the longest leaf, and the roots grew quite a lot. I'm not doing anything special for it. The max/min temp is 30/18C (86/65F) in the summer, 27/16 C(80/60F) in the winter. RH around 70-90%. Typical Paph light, I think. It's supposed to be in Med bark:sphag:med. perlite:home made charcoal=8:2:1:1, but actually there might be more sphag since it dries slower than other pots. I water it every 5-6 days, but it is kept quite moist. Fertilizer every time at 30ppmN (mostly K-Lite and GrowMore 20-10-20, Urea free, but occasionally Fish emulsion). It's in a grow tent with no fan. Well, I was going to add circulating fans, but the pots dry out in a good rate, and orchids seem to grow OK, so I became lazy.
I have another P. vietnamense (from Hung Shen) for 6 years, but it is struggling. It used to grow OK (but not great), it declined suddenly, and now it is recovering extremely slowly. It's in a different tent, but it should be in a similar condition. So I'm not sure how this plant from Denver will do in a long term.
Do you have any tips to grow this species?
