This just opened a couple of days ago. Wossner Helene is helenae x charlesworthii.

I really like this cute little hybrid. You can see the influence of P. charlesworthii in the dorsal and the softness of the overall color is very pleasing to me.
The form seems pretty good, alignment looks okay. There is the little green boss on the staminode. The pouch has what seems to be a creamy butterscotch kind of color. Maybe the petals could be a bit fuller? You can see some tessellations there.
It seems a little cupped but it is still opening. Orchid Pro shows two awards so far I think. It has a natural spread of 5.2 cm. X 5.7 cm.

Well not every flower has to have vibrant color in order for me to like it. I find it rather charming and was a little surprised that with what I think are two dominant parents in a cross, that the helenae really seemed to take over and smother the charlesworthii. I like the hint of purple in the dorsal that shows up out towards the left and right of center. Plus the size of the plant versus the size of the flower makes this a good candidate for growing under lights in my opinion.
I like the alignment from top center of the dorsal, through the staminode to the center tip of the pouch. Everything seems sit along a straight imaginary line.

Well, the ending to this story for now is that it was pulled for AOS judging. And it was not awarded. It was down low in the exhibit but was entered in the appropriate class for the show. Obviously some one thought that it should be looked at and considered. When the show closes today, I will have to see if there was a ribbon on it.
Better luck next time I guess.
