Hi all,

I purchased this paph in spike at my Orchid Society show & sale in March. It's a cross between a bulldog type (Paph Mukoyama Green) & a dark Maudiae type (Paph Anhinga).

Here is the whole plant:

I like the color, but am somewhat less pleased with the shape, at least of the dorsal. Any hope subsequent flowers might have better shape?

Whatever my opinion of the flower, the foliage rocks!

Cheers,
Rob

Great choice! I love the colors!
I hope mine blooms out as nice as yours!! :poke::D

 I really like the unique petal markings!
I'd take a chance to see if the form will improve!

well, the shape certainly leaves space for improvement. Should get better next time.

The colour pattern is most unusual and interesting. I find the choice of parents for this cross, well, unusual. Crosses between dark red bulldogs and vinicolor Maudiaes have led to some amazing results. What would have been the rational for a cross between a green bulldog and a vini Maudiae? Just the vague hope for the unusual to come out?

Cheers,

I wonder if it's one of Norito Hasegawa's? Paramount carries a lot of his crosses...although I see that this one isn't on their website right now. :sob:

Ding Ding Ding,
THE FIRST HARLEQUIN PAPH.
Are you sure it is not a phal?
Absolutely different & gorgeous

Hi all,

Well, thanks for the encouraging comments about letting it bloom again, in the hopes that subsequent blooms may have better shape. I can hope! I *think* I'll keep it. :)

Joanne, as Jorch has pointed out, it did come from Paramount and you are quite right--not on their website. Not too far away for you to go to get one, though. I envy you! I wish we had an outfit like them here! Not sure what its origin is, but they seem to have quite a few Yi-Ying grexes right now.
