my yellow phal deliciosa has flowered later than those a few others here have posted this summer. it is a steady grower and vigorous rooter! i wish my purple deliciosas would grow as well as this one, though my recent one from oak hill is still flowering. i tried to put some phal braceana and other pollen on this plant, but it rejected all pollination attempts so far. i think it has a nice fragrance but the flowers are so small it is tough for me to get a good whiff to describe what it is like. these pics were taken a few weeks ago, but it is still flowering right along

if you look closely at the first pic, you can see the the plant looks like it is trying to divide! one of the leaves when emerging started to grow two out like an 'x; and the middle of the plant has a bifurcation where it looks like a cell that was gathering in the middle getting ready to divide. if i get time i'll try and get a better pic of it. our gerberas at work often do the same thing, where a flower will start to pinch in the middle, and it will turn into two flowers; the stem will even do the same thing and turn into two stems joined side-by-side. i'll get a few pics of them tomorrow

oh; it's on a chunk of cork bark, with only a little moss originally under the roots. i usually mount my plants by taking a bit of moss, put the roots on the moss/bark, sometimes put a little moss over the roots, then put some plastic gutter-guard material that comes in a roll over the roots and tie it to the mount. it is much faster than using wire or string to mount a plant, and it usually does no damage to the roots. holds the roots/plant pretty snugly again without doing much damage. if you want to remove it you can use scissors and snip sections away. just cut out a piece of the material that will fit on the mount, cut a roundish section out where the base of the plant and roots will be and snip it from outside to center in one spot, then just twist it around the plant and over the roots. (it is more difficult to explain than to actually do...)

the material is used to keep leaves and such from falling into the tops of rain gutters, is cheap comes in a roll from home centers
the clay pot beneath is just used to hold the plant up for photographing
