Tom, mine finally bloomed! I think I got your last seedling from this selfing in June of 2020! I'm very pleased. I tried to kill it, but it survived! My comment above about the 'Broadwaters' division is interesting. It bloomed once, then I killed it!! Now I do have a nice selfing of it, though, that is growing well. This one really struggled until I figured out to keep it cooler (75) and grow it in it's own saucer of water (after it's thoroughly watered and drained). It is striking!Even the flavum forms grow to be large plants with tray culture. A great way to grow them if you have the room.
Gorgeous plant and flower! Happy New Year, Tom!Even the flavum forms grow to be large plants with tray culture. A great way to grow them if you have the room.
I grow them indoors under lights in a cool basement never above 74 F.So what’s the trick for keeping them cool in heatwaves? I’ve bloomed nice besseae, including a precious flavum from Tom, but then they just… melt away in the heat.
Well done… I can’t do it. Sigh.I grow them indoors under lights in a cool basement never above 74 F.
They grew well on a windowsill (East), but needed more light. You could probably do it on a S or W. Temps are ambient room temp.Well done… I can’t do it. Sigh.
