I haven't decided if I want to keep this one or not. It will be a big plant with a tall spike, and the dorsal is less than stellar.

I think it is beautiful. What do you not like about it? Is it because it is not flat? Maybe next bloom will be better?

It's an interesting result. I would have assumed it would have much stronger color, but that may just be the lighting.

I'm a sucker for phrags, so I'd probably end up keeping it, but if I'm being fair and objective, the color is what would be disappointing to me. I can forgive minor issues in shape or form (like the dorsal) in these types of crosses as long as the color really pops, but it's a little light for my taste.

Exactly. With the name "Fire", I expected more intense coloring. I compared it with my Olaf Gruss, and the coloring is similar, but this is a larger plant and flower. I'd also like it if the dorsal were flatter. I don't mind the wavy petals at all.
My greenhouse is pretty cool at night now, so too warm an environment is not the issue.

I know what you mean Dot, it will be a big plant and the color is rather pale in addition to the dorsal issue. It is so hard to cull a plant and it is pretty. It looks very similar to my Cahaba Sunrise.

well, it's an overall beautiful flower. But I know the feeling of
not having the bloom you expected... If you have the space, why
not keep it for a little while and see how it'll look the next flowering
cycle... Phrags are unpredictable.. one of the reasons, we like them so much. :)
