Phrag Cardinale (very old specimen)

I just bought this plant from Sue in Bristol, who bought it at Boa Vista Orchids in Madeira. They would have brought it there from Wyld Court Orchids, which grew out of the collection of Sir William Cooke in Berkshire in the 1920's. This is a massive plant as you can see. Malcolm Perry reckons it could easily be a survivor from before WWI.

Could easily be divided into at least 10 plants if one had the inclination. But I like its size.

There are 3 more spikes coming along, in addition to the 2 you see with blooms. So it will get better as the winter comes along.
