I've always wanted this species in my collection but not until I went to semi-hydro was able to keep it alive. Got it in 2016. The original growth has die out but 3 came up in its place.

Yes Gilda and abax. Almost all of my phrags are in semi hydro. The maintenance is the same as traditional potting. Annually or longer I have to clean the containers and pellets. Mosses over grow, some algae as well but the accumulation of "mud" makes it necessary to unpot , clean and put the plants back in the same container/pellets.
