Had a suspicion yesterday when I could see the bud with daylight shining through it.

Was growing this out to see if the quality of the bloom would be good... um.

Give it another chance. My longifoliums usually
bloom quite a long time. The first bloom on the
spike isn't always the best.
I agree.I have a longifolium album grown from seedling.Fist flower was distorted and a litle disappointing but flower quality improved blooming by blooming.
 
I guess this an improvement??? Will update picture again in a couple of days and then cut the bloom. If it wasn't a multiple growth plant I would cut the spike but curious to see how it continues to develop.

Ha! I would say it is more Joseph Merrick than Brad Pitt. The previous bloom was at least symmetrical. So the experiment continues. The plant had previously bloomed before, not under my care, so looks like a wait and see where it goes.
 
3rd flower... I would give this one the award for "Most Improve Flower 2020."

Interesting the movement of the darker green dots are now neatly grouped in the center.
