phrag mont mado

Hi,
a couple of poorish photos of a hybrid new to me - Mont Mado (andreettae x caricinum).
Flowers are a bit bashed up as it has just arrived through the post a couple of days ago.
The plant is just over a foot tall and I like the pretty little pink flowers.
I'm pretty sure that this originated at the EYOF. Ratcliffes are offering reasonably priced seedlings at the moment.
Anyway it offers promise for the future - this is a seedling flowering for the first time. A nice spike with several flowers and the way the two new growths are developing means a vigorous plant.
I'll post another photo when the next bud opens,

Very interesting blooms!!! Is Phrag mont mado a new cross? I didn't find in the RHS Orchid DB (where they have andreettae as a natural hybrid?!?) Jean

I got the parentage from the listing of the plant on a well known auction site.
Like you I cannot find any other reference to it on the web.
But Mont Mado is on the island of Jersey so it is very likely to originate from the EYOF.
They have already released seedlings of andreettae ( at a price!).
Dropping a line to Ratcliffes would probably confirm this,

Very nice. :drool: Now I know what I can expect mine to look like in a week or so.
Yes, this is an EYOF plant. (The lady at Ratcliffes told me when I bought my "seedling" in the summer). Vigorous is an understatement - besides the 2 growths it had on arrival, which are growing fast, it now has another one - and the flower spike! I'm still waiting for the first flower - the bud is just beginning to emerge from the sheath. :clap:
