Super Gilda! I recently got a div of this species and I hope I will be able to do justice to it as you have.

Good show

Nice going Gilda.
Mine has currently five spikes but I've never had three flowers opened at the same time. Maybe I'll get them in the coming weeks. I've always found schlimii more difficult to grow than other phrags.

;)

I agree, schlimii is hard to bloom (I keep blasting mine)! good job

Fren; maybe it's the clone that you have? Maybe it's just a finicky one? I have one that blooms VERY easily. But, I've had others that did the same. However, I grow them quite cool in the fall and winter and spring; especially at night, and they never get warmer than whatever the ambient temperature is outside in the summer. Also, my best bloomings have occurred in the last 2 spring/summers, when we've had unseasonably cold weather, both years. It's been so cold in the summer (at seasonal or slightly lower, with no heat waves), that Tomato plants don't really "take off" and Water Hyacinths won't stay alive in the goldfish pond without added heat...in July! Other years, when it's been HOT, the Water Hyacinths have grown like crazy! When the Water Hyacinths do well, my schlimii does not. When the WH's do poorly, my schlimii thrives and blooms it's fool head off! Food for thought....

I've had a schlimii for about 10 years...never set a spike once. And I generally find phrags to be very easy to bloom....way easier than paphs. Not this one though!

Thanks John, that is interesting and something to think about. I'll see what I can do for coolness next year when the new growth matures. Perhaps repotting into a clay pot may help

very nice show Gilda!!!

my plant has 1 bud (small but about to open!?) with a 2nd very small one! How large are your blooms? Jean
