This one just opened and is a very, very small plant. I got it from Orchid Babies over a year ago.

When I read the subject line, I imagined a very pale flower, almost white. This is a surprise and a pleasant one.

Very nice,I will try to cross it back to Ph. bessae flava...

Why? You're only likely to get a besseae flava look-alike.

The flower is beautiful as it is and if I had one like this and thought of breeding it, I would be more likely to cross it with a good Jason Fischer or something like it. But that's just my opinion.:drool::drool:

Here's the thing, could you get an easier to grow one???

I was thinking about a MDC flavum cross shown by OL not long ago. At least I think it was a MDC. Though it wasn't really yellow as I recall, this would be the perfect plant to cross it with if you could get it.

I think it was by tomkalina but the picture is not available anymore.

Here's the photo Shiva was referring to; I agree that breeding this clone to the St. Ouen flavum could make for an interesting outcome. I recall seeing a couple of Don Wimber flavums on this forum a while back and wonder if any of these were ever bred back to besseae flavum to remake Rachel Kirk?

I think breeding for a group of yellow phrags that would be easier to flower/grow would be a worthy pursuit. How about crossing to the Phrag Cahaba Morning Mist that were posted recently. I think 2 of those were pale yellow, and one was pink .

Unusually yellow for a flavum cross; most of them show only a little trace of the yellow parent.

Cross it to a nice big yellowish Lutz Rollke. Big, peachy, well-formed flowers should be the result, maybe even more yellows.
