Hello,

10 days I bought from Wubben Holland a Franz Glanz. It was in bark and I put it immediately in semi-hydroponics with leca. I use distilled water as tap water is hard.

As you can to the following photos, some of its leaves are yellowing and also a new growth. I really don't know what to do. It is a fact that the last days we had excess heat, from 38-43 C. All my plants are settled in a balcony, north west orientation, no direct sunlight, only some cattleyas and dendrobiums for half to one hour late in the afternoon. Today, the temperature is 29 C and 55% humidity.

Please, could you give me your advices? Thank you.

One very important rule of growing phrags I learned is not to repot during a heat wave, unless I have absolutely no choice. Roots are disturbed and may not provide enough water to a plant stressed by high temprature. I have many phrags and paphs that need repotting but they will have to wait until the last heat wave we usually get in september around here.:)
Put the plant in a shady spot in the coolest place you can find...not the fridge...

I've had this same condition occur with some Phrags when moving from bark to S/H. My awarded pearcei died off both older growths but threw out 4 to 5 new growths along with roots. I chalked it up to wetter growing conditions. Before I donated to the Galveston Orchid Society it was NBS in less then a year. I divide, repot any time of the year. It's always a heat wave here.

I agree with Eric. It's hard to disturb them again, but I'd
put them in either long-fibered sphagnum moss packed
a bit loose or Orchiata in a much smaller container and keep
them shady and as cool as possible.

Thank you for your advices, I'll try to add some sphagnum moss. It's already moved inside.

Add some large perlite to the sphagnum and keep the plant wet ( not damp )
and Phrags like cool water at their roots. It will settle in you only need patience,

seeing evenly plain yellow leaves leads me to think also maybe that your distilled water is much cleaner than where you got it (meaning they might use more fertilizer), and the distilled water is removing nutrients from the plant. even though they have clean water where they grow, they have perpetually moving water that has traces of everything in it. so you might need to add a little of the hard water back to the distilled. water that is completely pure will draw nutrients and minerals out of a plant (and people; they suggest we drink water that has had a little cal-mag added to it)
