The most recently discovered Phragmepedium species. Grows warm to intermediate.

What do you think this one adds to a hybridization? What will it pass on?
Good question, one I asked myself. Quite frankly this species is not doing much for me, may need to see more. Based on this flower, if this were the norm, I can't see it doing much of anything .....
I love Hanna Popow & I think part of it's charm is it's full segments, I look at andreettae & think it's going to undo that.:(

I agree. This doesn't do much for me, but then again with so few hybrids, one can never know how its genes will appear in the offspring.

Phragmipedium, Phragmipedium, Phragmipedium. I need to check my spellings more carefully!

One interesting avenue of breeding with long fma album we pursued was to cross it with besseae fma flavum to remake Eric Young; the thinking being that it may be a quick way to develop a line of pure yellow besseae hybrids. Not entirely sure whether this is possible, but I thought it was worth a try. I think it'l be 12-18 months before the first seedlings bloom.

Duane - I don't think Ecuagenera has any long fma album seedlings, but I may be wrong. You might find out while you're down there and let us (ST) know, because there's definitely a demand for them.

Thanks,

Eric - As far as your having one tiny seedling left out of a flask of long fma albums, that's about the norm. We deflasked eleven flasks of our own selfing, and ended up with about 55 seedlings total! They are without a doubt the most difficult seedlings to grow out of flask that I have ever seen. FYI - in my experience, the ones that were deflasked at a very small stage because of jumbling of flask contents in transit, ended up being the best growers. It seemed the longer they were in flask, the more difficult they became to aclimate once deflasked.
