That FG has very nice color. My first bloom didn't have so
much color in the petals and the yellow was very pale. I
hope it improves. I like your bloom much better.

Thank you Angela
Yeah, It a little depends on the mix that you use to grow them as well. In the US we don't have many different materials to grow orchids, but in Vietnam we have plenty types of material and it help improving the quality of the flowers a lot. I am planning to bring some over here. :))

Yay! I have finally rebloomed a phrag. Only 14 more to go :)

Here is a photo of this year's bloom, and last year's (I purchased it in bud/spike/bloom). I like this year's more yellow version, though the rose blush of last year was nice. But - and it's hard to see - I prefer this years form, with a taller lip, drooping petals, and, to my eye, a more graceful top petal.

This is my only phrag in a clear pot. I actually did that by mistake, since they're terrestrial. But - maybe that's why this one bloomed? Doesn't make sense, but....

Here is last year's bloom from this plant. I purchased it in bud in fall of 2015 - but I don't think this was a first bloom. It was a multi-growth plant when I got it, very possibly a division, and knowing the grower (in San Francisco) I bet this is also from OZ.

So lighter color, more yellow and less red, and petals are more downswept this year. Always a mystery what makes these changes! Well, it's the plant's environment, but what about the environment? It is likely that this plant is getting less light than it did before I got it, and on another forum someone had said more light = more pigment (about Cymbidium).

Both are good examples of the variety of color you get with FG. OZ had some nice size plants at one time at least.

I love the yellow - red - orange spectrum in this flower and that phrags can have overall. Oddly I am not a fan of yellow Catts or Cymbidium - but kind of like it in Brazilian Laelias!
