I think most of us would prefer a nearly solid red orchid. If color variations occur, they should be pleasant.
There are some variables that can affect the exact odds of a characteristic occurring. Courtney Hackney wrote in his book that a sibling cross of a primary hybrid with 20 chromosomes - 2 plants out of a little more than 1 trillion plants will have all of the of one parent. That trillion is an idea of the possible combinations. This is a complex hybrid that probably has more than 20 chromosomes.
The progeny tend to sort on a bell curve, and common characteristics sort in the middle. The genes that affect color do no always occur at the same position in each parent. This can cause odd things to happen with color (or any characteristic).
