Hello all, over the last year I have been re-growing my orchid collection. I had a modestly large orchid collection about 10 years ago which I lost due to a combination of a bug problem that came in on a new plant and I didnt catch it before it spread to **everything**, and time constraints involved with caring for my elderly parents…which is why I didnt catch the problem in the first place :-/.
This time around I am growing mostly paphs, both Maudiaes and strap, and a few phrags. I am growing them in orchidariums (see pics) under LED lights to better control the humidity, plus I have cats who think paph and phrag leaves are very very tasty.
I also grow hardy orchids. Here is a pic of a bloom from one of my oldest orchid clumps, a cypripedium formosanum. I am just a bit north of Seattle, so a great climate for hardy orchids.
