Earlier I posted this pic of a Catt' I had just purchased. I divided it in half, about 6 canes each plant. The flowered half is making good growth, the unflowered half had a growth with sheath coming. I thought it would be nice to see the flowers fresh. The original pic.

This is that other half flowering now. What do you think ???

Maybe there were two seedlings (2 plants genetically different, with the same parents or not) in the pot... Did the plants were bounded together? (not sure I wrote the good word... you know linked together.... by the pseudobulbs... did you cut something?)

Or.... maybe you have a mutation/sport!

LOL! Both are very beautiful, but not what you'd expect to find growing in 1 pot. Very cool, but unusual!! Did you cut a rhizome to separate the 2? Do catts make sports? How about the leaves and PB-do both sides look the same?

I love both blooms-it's like you got 2 for the price of one:)

Must have been quite a surprise to you. Most likely there were two plants bundled together in the same pot. The colour is so different from the first one that it must be a different cattleya. The question is, as Erythrone asks, were both halves on the same rhizome or did they separate on their own when you took them out of the pot?

The plant appear to be the one. I had to pull apart the rhizome as it was only small at the join and it did break, I sealed break. It was probably 2 seedlings in the pot, just joined from the proto corm stage.
The x is C.Princess Bells x C. Lana Coryell. The C. PB would explain the white.

I flowered out a lot of these, the pink one is one of the nicest I have seen.

Most tended to have average to small lips, which is surprising given the lana coryell parentage

It seems I have seen a well known Cattleya posted with a name
like "Rosie pink something, alba." It was commented that in the meri-cloning of this particular variety, one of the plants grew out white, and was an obvious sport. It may even have been on this forum, Did anyone else see it? Anyway, I guess it does happen that sports occur.

Nice surprise!!! To my experience it is not unusual to find 2 seedlings together when first repotting a BS catt plant!!! Jean
