This one came directly from Fred Clarke of SVO himself last year. Very cute miniature orchid if you want to grow small plants. It has finally bloomed with one flower, and its colorations are stunning!

Wow, they’re breeding some beautiful red mini-Catts. Do these require more light than standard Catts?
I would say that light is about the same for them. Mine was growing outside the whole summer in partial shade/dappled sunlight for the majority of the day, and surprised me by pushing out this bud.

I love the striking red color. I too have one of Fred Clarke's Slc. Candy Sparks and it bloomed completely different than yours. This is why I like buying speedlings rather than mericlones, to get the variation in the flowers. Here is a pic of mine, you can see the difference, it almost looks like a different cross, but, it's not. This one came directly from SVO as well. This is a first bloom seedling with flowers approx. 2 1/2" in horizontal width.

Your Slc. Candy Sparks is also very cool looking with the red/pink/yellow flares in the petals! Very nice mixed colors. It's interesting to see what kind of results you will get by buying seedlings not knowing what the flowers will look like.
