I got this one about a year ago with about three others. They were sold as Evening Blaze. Here's a picture of a real Evening Blaze: http://www.slippertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13692&highlight=evening+blaze

This looks exactly like a flavum-type Don Wimber to me though. It isn't a bad one though so I guess I'm kind of happy with it. That might change if all three turn out to be DW.

Nice oops! It certainly looks more like a DW than a Cape Sunset to me, but as phrags become more complex, you'll never know.

I'd agree with the Don Wimber flavum type! Absolutely!! Although what's the height of the spike??

Phrag Evening Blaze does have some variability in color and blooming these besseae hybrids in hot weather will produce yellow/orange flowers instead of rich red/orange. It does look like Don Wimber, but with similar parentage that is the result. Be cautious in your name change.

I bloomed out probably 50 Evening Blaze seedlings from Chuck Acker flasks and there definately is a lot of variation. Your picture looks very much like some of my blooms. So I would stick with the current labeling unless you have other reasons to suspect it is incorrect.

Could be true. If it's Phrag Evening Blaze it's the nicest form one I've seen but it didn't keep much of the Waunakee Sunset color.

Well I'll be. Thanks Lance. I guess I stand corrected. Well at least I got corrected by a pretty smart dude. I loved seeing those pictures!

Thanks again!
