strange Paphiopedilum delenatii foliage

I couldn’t resist grabbing these weirdos from among a thousand delenatii seedlings. I’m sure one of you must have seen this patterning before. Can you tell me what, if anything, it signifies about the flower? I’m assuming it remains stable. I’m calling it “Motherboard,” as the pattern reminds me of computer wiring.

I have never seen this kind of patterns before, hopefully they are stable , if so you should make sure that all plants with this pattern survive so you can breed them with each other. I wonder if the flowers will also have star burst/firework like the leaves. Amazing that the underside still have grid connection but the top surface did not

A saw a similar pattern at a micranthum in Cramer's nursery. Most of variegated orchids have normal flower, but due to relatively less of chlorophyll, they are slow grower, harder to keep them alive and have smaller and fewer flower, if any.

I picked up a few of these at Hausermann's last year and they are growing as well as my normal delenatii. I considerate it to be a form of variegation and luckily it has enough chlorophyll to be viable. I think mine will be normal colored flowers as there is the usual red spotting on the underside of the leaves.

This looks to have a flower spike. Any pics of the flower itself?

Indeed a very interesting new trait for these delenatiis. I have never seen either.

No, the author was just wondering what was up with the foliage and didn't include a photo of the flower, even though it appears that it was in flower at the time. I still have to find a post from about 2-3 years ago that someone had posted either here or this other site that showed a checkered pattern. The purchaser seemed to be unaware the foliar pattern was unique.

The pattern is very stable. This plant had just the two lower leaves when I got it last year. It has grown steadily under LED lighting.

Brucher, I also saw Paph. micranthum(s) with similar leaf patterns but never saw such a Paph. delenatii. Please keep us posted !

I would love to see the micranthum as well! Are they available? I like flowers fine but I grow Paphs specifically because I love the leaves.

I love the new variegated pattern! I had tried to grow paphs but one, an unnamed hybrid that was a gift, was sending out new growth way up the stem! Showed it to one of our major Paph growers here in MN and he had never seen something like it! It was climbing out of the pot obviously, only more pronounced than my Phrag Hannah Popow!! He didn’t know what could be done but was correct in predicting all new growth would die! I don’t know what went wrong with the Paph nivium seedling he gifted me that day! It was slow growing and first bloom was lovely! Unfortunately it declined after and died! I hate losing plants, and am diligent about seeking advice! Unfortunately it is a painful process learning new orchid genera

I got some of these seedlings from Hausermans a few years ago, bloomed one and selfed it. It is a stable leaf pattern. I sent one pollinia to a friend who crossed if to a delenatii album and shared a couple flasks with me. The first Paph delenatii (album x 'Hella Stripes') bloomed this spring. I have sib crossed and back crossed it to the original 'Hella Stripes' plant. It is my hope to get faster, more vigorous growing plants as well as ones with white flowers. The half 'Hella Stripes' plants have been very vigorous and as an added bonus, fragrant.
