I doubt this will help much but I recently got this plant in bud from Rick H (who got it from a grower in Hawaii).

It came in labeled as P. curtisii. I'm sure its seed grown and not wild collected.
 
See, this just adds to more to the already confusing issues.
The leaves on this curtisii is not silver but green based.
 
What does how it's labeled have to do with its true identity.

We don't have clean Chain of Custody from collection or parentage on any of our plants. And non existent DNA data of any plants from cleanly documented / verified wild populations.

So verifying anything by visual ID is pretty much up for fun speculation and discussion.

I have another seedling labelled curtisii with such leaves, so which is which, now I am getting confused.:confused: perhaps we should lump those two int one; Paphiopedilum superbiens var. variabilis?:evil:
