I would say that first bud is not going to flower. I would be surprised if your increase in watering is responsible. The advice is normally to increase watering when in bud to ensure optimum development. Do you grow inside the house? Changes in humidity?

I think that bud will open up, it's just getting ready.
On another topic, I feel like changing anything once in spike is risky.
Since it's a first bloom, not too concerned that it's not growing out perfectly.

I grow them in the house under lights at 280PPFD. The humidity fluctuates between 50-76. I only increased watering when it was spiking and in bud. But this is a weaker Roth plant with around 8" to 9" leaves, I have other NBS roth that has 14"-17" leaves.

So maybe that is why the blooms are pausing and taking so long? I have

Considering the plant is in bad shape.The flower is small. Petals are around 7.3cm long. Striking dorsal. I do have another sibling that is in better shape.

It is nice, but sadly not a roth. It is a hybrid of some sort, but impossible to say what it is exactly. It looks something more complex than a primary hybrid. Many people on this forum have been saying that a lot of Sam's plants have not been flowering true to label. This is just another example.

I would say stonei and anitum in the mix with Roth. The Roth should just be a brown color this has purple tones on dorsal and greenish petals as well as bit of Stonei red pouch

I was thinking the same thing. Lady Isobel x anitum seems a common cross. That is a possibility.

There is roth in the background, but this has the color, markings, petal shape, dorsal shape, lip shape, and staminode of a hybrid.

Sam had health problems before he closed his business, and unfortunately there were issues with mislabled plants.
