I happened to have all these blooming at the same time and was answering a question for somebody else. The question is "are Maudiae 'The Queen' and Claire de Lune 'Edgar von Belle' the same plant (awarded twice) or different?".

In my hands, different. Claire de Lune to the right and left of the top row (two divisions in separate pots), Maudiae 'The Queen' center top , and another clone, Maudiae 'Charlotte' lower row. Perspective says they are all the same size, but the lower flower is maybe 10% smaller than the rest. They are similar, but note that the 'warting' pattern is different. You can't see the leaves, but they are also different shades of green. So, pretty conclusively different clones.

Top row probably all triploid. 'Charlotte' breeds and is thus probably diploid. I haven't counted them...

'The Queen' has been awarded several times, possibly more than once in AOS, definitely awarded in RHS and other programs. It is possible that there is an 'Edgar von Belle' falsely awarded as "The Queen" or vice versa, can't rule that out. And they are similar enough from a distance that it would be easy to make a mistaken tag or two (unless they are in bloom at the same time!). But in my hands I have two distinct clones. Thus endeth the lesson. :)

Beautiful bunch!!!
I have Claire de Lune 'EVB' in bud at the moment and I can't wait to find out if it's a real deal.
It's "van", not "von" by the way.

To me, Maudiae 'The Queen' and CDL 'EVB' are very different.
Petals are a lot thinner on the Queen, and as you say, the distribution of the warts, color, and the angle they sit.
Dorsal are different.

What people confuse most often are : the queen, magnificent, bankhaus ( all Maudiae clones).

Hmmm. I've seen both 'von' and 'van'... I always used to spell it van and then something managed to change my mind, I guess I'd better change it back. ;)

Yes, it is van, and while we're on spelling, it is Edgard with a d at the end.

And more importantly Clair with no e at the end.

And 'Magnificum' not magnificent.

'Magnificum' and 'Bankhaus' may be the same as each other, but they are definitely not 'The Queen'. To my eye this does indeed appear to be her royal highness.

And anyone who can't distinguish Maudiae 'The Queen' and Clair de Lune 'Edgard van Belle' has been growing something other than slipper orchids under their lights.

Thanks for the further spell correction.
Magnificum was spelled wrong thanks to auto correct feature on my phone. Often it ruins things more than helps. lol

Yes, I agree and say again that Clair de Lune 'Edgard Van Belle' is very different than Maudiae 'The Queen'.
There seems to be great confusion regarding other clones.
Is Bankhaus even real rather than a mix up? And I don't think I've ever seen an example of another famous plant, Alma Gavaert 'Madame Maurice Martens'.

I've heard in the past that Paph. Maudiae 'The Queen' AM/AOS and Paph. Maudiae 'Bankhouse' AM/AOS (Yes, that's how the AOS awards description has it listed) are the same clone. The 'Magnificum' CCM/AOS clone has a much smaller flower (HNS = 11.4 -12 cm) than either of those and has sharply tesselated leaves, while the 'TQ' and 'B' clones have larger flowers (HNS = 13.4 - 15 cm) and larger, more muted and virtually identical leaf tessellations. I had a slide at one time that showed the leaf tesselation differences, but no more.
