Mine is doing nothing this year also. It grows like crazy. It was the fastest one out of a flask. 12+ growths and no blooms. So I am envious of your tigrinum. Great flower.

Leo, do chiwuanum and esquirolei behave in the same way? I have noticed that spicerianum also take a while as I have pods which are 16 months and still not mature, but it see a lot of spicerianum pod parents in the register. I have chiwuanum OC, hirsuttissimum OC and esquirolei siblings in pod at the moment, all about 14 months (the reason for my question)

I am seriously envious of your tigrinum! Love the symmetry.

Honestly, I haven't tried either esquirolei or chiwuanum, but I would expect them to be the same as hirsutissimum. The lab I use likes dry seed, so I don't always 'pay attention' and just harvest when the seed pod cracks. Haven't made more than a dozen crosses since 1997, used to do a lot of them. Lately I have not paid close enough attention, and pods have split and dumped their seed entirely before I noticed (or were empty all along). I like the idea of using dry seed as it minimizes the spread of virus. (especially with Phrags, Cattleya, and Oncidium alliance).
